Happy 8th Anniversary to Reggies, Chicago! They keep the idea of old school, grubby venues alive with their forward thinking in exposing rare acts from around the world. Not since the Metro (or even Fireside Bowl, the Avalon for Christ’s sake) has there been a steady flow of fresh talent. My anniversary wish for you guys: always strive to be trail blazers for the people. Here’s to 8 more years & beyond.
The last time Anathema was in the States was 2000-01. Milwaukee Metal Fest. I don’t remember though my cohorts claim we did see them. By the way, they aren’t really metal. Moody but not metal. Yeah, yeah. So what if they had Cradle Of Filth & (my fave) My Dying Bride alum, I can’t digest that they’re metal. That’s okay, they are still tasty.
I think I’m in shock.
I was surfing and found this website that took a splice of a video I JUST recorded at the Ghost gig at the Double Door on the 3rd!!! They took something so innocent and turned it… dirty. Like, kinky dirrrty! rotfl I don’t know if I should be angry or applaud their determination! The things that happen on the World Wide Web. smh. Gotta love horny fans. Skål guys!
A hearty thank you to mover and shaker (Downtown) Scotty Brown. Scotty has been an acquaintance I’ve known since I became legal (maybe a little longer but let’s not get anyone in trouble, shall we;-). I’ve often admire his relentless passion for living life to the fullest since ‘our Avalon days’. He posted this poignant prose on FB that encompassed everything I believe to date and will be moving forward with in the new year. Why conjure up some poetic hubbub when you can borrow it! Blessings to you guys, now & always. Skol!!!
“In the new year, I will live one day at a time. I will make each day one of preparation for better things ahead. I will not dwell on the past or the future, only on the present. I will bury every fear of the future, all thoughts of unkindness and bitterness, all my dislikes, my resentments, my sense of failure, my disappointments in others and in myself, my gloom and my despondency. I will leave all these things buried and go forward, in this new year, into a new life. Happy New Year!!!”
